Obsolescence Solutions for the Nuclear Power Industry
As plants continue to age, obsolescence becomes not only a replacement issue, but a safety and security concern. Curtiss-Wright offers a variety of solutions to support, upgrade, or replace aging and obsolete components and systems.
Understanding the need for obsolescence solutions, Curtiss-Wright developed the Obsolete Item Replacement Database (OIRD) and the Analog I&C Components program, both of which aid in the sourcing and replacement of hard to find or obsolete items. Similar to RAPID, OIRD is the online resource for obsolescence needs, providing users with possible replacements and solutions, and allowing users to connect directly with suppliers to develop new answers to obsolescence problems as they arise. In the event something cannot be found on OIRD, the Analog I&C Components program works to reverse engineer, refurbish, and replace analog safety systems, extending plant life by replacing obsolete analog parts with components that maintain fit, form, and function of the original equipment.
